Well Take DDCA Request To ICC Anurag Thakur

Ferozeshah Kotla's hopes of hosting 2016 ICC World Twenty20 games are hanging by a thread since the host association - Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) - is yet to procure all `No objection certificates' (NOCs) from the various civic bodies.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had given DDCA until Sunday (January 31) evening to get the NOCs. How ever, as reported by TOI on Saturday, Chetan Chauhan, DDCA vice-president, has already written to the board asking for time till February 10.

Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary, confirmed that the board has received DDCA's request but says it's up to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take a call on whether to grant DDCA additional time. The ICC Board is scheduled to meet in Dubai from Monday to Thursday and one of the matters that to be discussed will be an update on the World T20, including playing conditions and prize money.

"I have seen the request made by DDCA. The World T20 is a global event under the aegis of ICC. I will be travelling to Dubai and will forward their request to the ICC," Thakur told TOI.

The BCCI secretary didn't give any assurances that ICC would take a sympathetic view of the situation. "We are just over a month away from the World T20. If the ICC have no problems in giving the extra time, the BCCI will have no issues either. The matter will be discussed in detail at the meeting tomorrow apart from other issues on preparations for the World T20," Thakur concluded.
